Rajganj, 10th March: An elderly mother and her son had a narrow escape after a tree collapsed on their house in the Saheb Para area near Ambari in Rajganj block early Tuesday morning.
According to family members, Milan Mandal lives in a house in the area with her son Shyamal Mandal. A large tree stood beside their house.
At around 4:30 am on Tuesday, a loud sound woke them up from sleep. When they rushed outside, they found that the tree beside their house had snapped and fallen directly onto the roof, damaging a portion of the structure.
Fortunately, the mother and son were on the other side of the house at the time, which helped them narrowly escape the incident.
The incident created panic in the area. The family, which survives on daily earnings, is now facing severe difficulties as part of their house has been damaged.
They have appealed to the administration for immediate assistance to repair the house.
