Alipurduar, 26th August: A major accident on the railway tracks involving a herd of wild elephants was averted by the prompt action of the loco pilot.
On Monday morning, the herd suddenly appeared on the railway tracks in the area between Hasimara and Madarihat in Alipurduar district. Upon spotting the elephants on the tracks, the loco pilot of the Dhubri-Siliguri DEMU Express immediately reduced the train’s speed. Meanwhile, the herd moved back into the forest.
