Kalchini, 16th August: a tragic road accident took place in Kalchini claiming a youth’s life and injuring the other. The incident took place in Dalsingpara GST Police Camp adjacent area of Kalchini block. The deceased has been identified as Prateek Das (18) and the injured has been identified as Sanjay Nag.
Reportedly, Prateek Das, a resident of Jaigaon, and his maternal uncle Sanjay Nag went to a birthday party on Monday night in Dalsingpara. Later, while returning from the party in a scooty, a pickup van rammed into his vehicle on Bhutan-Asian Highway in Dalsingpara. The duo fell from their scooty and the van overturned on them, leaving them seriously injured.
Jaigaon police rescued both of the injured and took them to Latabari Rural Hospital, where doctors declared Prateek Das brought dead. Meanwhile, Sanjay Nag is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cooch Behar and is in critical condition. Kalchini police today recovered the body of Prateek and sent it to the hospital for post-mortem. Police are probing the case.
