Siliguri, 02nd October: In a heart-wrenching incident, a cyclist lost his life after being hit by a vehicle at Eastern Bypass under the jurisdiction of the Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard of Siliguri Metropolitan Police. The deceased has been identified as Deepu Roy, a resident of Iskcon Mandir Road.
As per reports, late on Sunday night, Deepu was returning home from his garage work on a bicycle. During this, a speeding vehicle rammed into his cycle from the opposite direction near the Dumping Ground More of Eastern Bypass. The car driver dragged the vehicle 100 to 200 meters further to avoid the agitated crowd. As a result, the cyclist died on the spot. Meanwhile, the driver escaped from the scene.
Upon receiving the news, cops of Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard arrived at the spot, recovered the deceased body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. At present, the police are on a hunt to apprehend the driver.
