Siliguri, 05th April: Tragedy struck in Sikkim after an avalanche hit Nathula on Tuesday claiming the lives of at least 7 including Siliguri’s resident Sourabh Roy Chowdhary.
Reportedly, Sourabh, a resident of Siliguri’s Shaktigarh succumbed to death in the disaster near Sikkim’s 15th Mile. Sourabh had gone to Sikkim for work where he met his ill fate. Sourabh was the only son of his parents and the death of their son brought shock and grief to the parents. On Monday night, the father Nilesh Roy Chowdhary, and mother Baby Roy Chowdhary spoke to their son. But little they knew that it was their last time hearing their beloved son’s voice. After this, on Tuesday night they were struck with the bad news of their son’s death in an avalanche.
Due to Tuesday being a holiday, he had gone to Changu with two of his companions where he died in an avalanche near 15th Mile. On the other hand, two of his friends have sustained injuries. Today Mayor Goutam Deb met the family members of the deceased and assured friends them to be with the family. Two family members left for Sikkim this morning to bring back Sourabh’s body.
