Phansidewa, 16th August: On Independence Day, a football tournament organized by Tarun Sangha Club at Hanskhowa in Phansidewa took a tragic turn. Amidst the fervor of the game, a spectator lost his life due to a falling tree branch at the field’s boundary. Multiple other individuals also suffered injuries in the unfortunate event.
The final match of the football competition, organized under the auspices of Tarun Sangha Club, was in progress in Phansidewa on Tuesday. A crowd of people had assembled to witness the match, with several people choosing to perch on the branches of a nearby tree for a better view. In an unforeseen turn of events, a branch of the tree suddenly snapped and collapsed onto the spectators standing on the field, resulting in numerous injuries.
Following the distressing incident, the injured individuals were promptly transported to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for medical attention. Despite efforts, one of the spectators succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
