Fulbari, 05th February: Repair work is currently underway on the bridge over the Teesta Link Canal at Fulbari, following which vehicular movement on the bridge has been suspended till February 28, officials said.
The bridge, located near the Chhota Nawapara area on the Fulbari-Gajoldoba route, had reportedly fallen into a dilapidated condition, prompting the concerned department to initiate immediate repair work. As a result, an order has been issued to completely stop the movement of all vehicles over the bridge till February 28.
Sources said the bridge, which connects Gora More with the Canal Road, had been under constant stress due to the movement of heavy vehicles for a long period. Excessive vibrations caused damage to the bridge’s wearing course and expansion joints, raising safety concerns.
An official of the Irrigation Department said vehicular traffic will remain fully suspended on the bridge from February 03 to February 28, 2026. During this period, vehicles will be diverted through alternative routes.
Normal traffic movement is expected to resume after the completion of the repair work, officials added.
