Siliguri, 02nd November: To free sidewalks on S.F. Road, one of the busiest streets in Siliguri, Jalpai More Traffic Police conducted a special drive.
Complaints had arisen that several shopkeepers on S.F. Road had installed unauthorized ‘No Parking’ boards in government parking zones, disrupting public parking arrangements.
During the drive, the police gave the shopkeepers a one-day deadline and instructed them to submit municipal documents to prove the validity of the boards; otherwise, the boards would be removed.
At the same time, strict action was taken against several shopkeepers running businesses on the sidewalks. Many items placed on the sidewalks were confiscated by the police.
Traffic police said that such drives will continue in the future to ensure pedestrian convenience and smooth traffic management.
