Siliguri, 03rd December: The Traffic Branch of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police carried out a series of continuous drives across the city on Wednesday. The operations were conducted by three separate traffic guards in different areas.
The Panitanki Traffic Guard led an operation on Bidhan Road targeting shopkeepers illegally occupying the footpath. Several shops were cleared and some goods were seized by the police.
Meanwhile, the Ashighar Sub Traffic Guard cautioned businesses occupying the footpaths near the Eastern Bypass.
In addition, the Siliguri Junction Traffic Guard carried out action against long-distance buses parked illegally on the roadside. Several vehicles violating traffic rules were fined by the police.
Traffic police sources stated that such drives will continue regularly to ensure smooth and orderly traffic movement in the city.
