Siliguri, 27th December: Following the series of road accidents on the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri, DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed has ordered a probe into the causes of accidents over the past two years. ADC and ACP have been instructed to prepare detailed reports.
Friday’s tragic accident near Ashighar More, which claimed the lives of two youths, prompted the DCP to personally inspect the site. To curb accidents, plans are underway to regulate the movement of heavy vehicles on the Eastern Bypass by setting time restrictions and implementing no-entry rules.
The DCP stated that the increasing vehicle load has made the road narrow. Based on the reports, further measures will be introduced. Citizens have also been urged to remain cautious, avoid allowing minors to drive, and adhere to traffic rules during the New Year period.
