Siliguri, 02nd February: A traffic awareness programme was organised at Hindi Balika Vidyapith in Siliguri on Monday to educate students about road safety and traffic rules. The programme was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed along with several police personnel from the traffic department.
During the session, traffic police officials explained in simple and clear language the importance of safe road crossing, wearing helmets and seatbelts, following traffic signals, using footpaths and strictly adhering to traffic rules. Students were made aware through practical examples to help them better understand road safety measures.
Addressing the students, the DCP (Traffic) said that teaching traffic rules from an early age can significantly reduce the number of road accidents in the future. He added that today’s students are the future of the nation and key pillars of society, making awareness among them extremely important.
School Principal Archana Sharma said the programme was organised under the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative to spread awareness about traffic safety among students.
TMC leader Sanjay Tibrewal also said that as part of the Safe Drive Save Life campaign, students were given important messages on road safety, adding that guiding the present generation in the right direction is essential for a safer future.
