Siliguri, 18th July: Traders of the Fuleswari market are angry with the action of closing the market for the next seven days starting from tomorrow. The announcement was made on Saturday after SMC Administrator Goutam Deb held a meeting with the health and administrative officials. Apart from this, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation has also decided to close various markets in the city for one day a week to sanitize the premises.
Meanwhile, the decision of closing the market for seven days did not sit well with the traders of the Fuleswari market. Vishnu Malti, a businessperson, said that the decision should have been announced earlier and that they should have been given some time to prepare for the same. “We will face a lot of loss due to the closure of the market for seven days,” Malti added.
Likewise, Sanjay Paul, Secretary of Fuleswari Market said that the announcement came to his notice last night. “I cannot understand why the market is being closed,” he complained. Paul further asserted that the cases of coronavirus infection had increased 10-15 days ago, but the situation has gradually returned to normal. He has questioned the sudden closure of the market.
