Traders’ association joins hands with police to clear pavements on Hill Cart Road, Siliguri

Siliguri, 19th December: In an effort to keep pavements on Hill Cart Road free from encroachment, the police administration has taken proactive measures, with members of the Hill Cart Road Traders’ Association also joining the initiative on Friday. The traders helped raise awareness among shopkeepers about keeping sidewalks clear.

Recently, the traffic police had removed shops obstructing the pavements. Following this, traders held a meeting with the municipal authorities, where several guidelines for setting up shop without encroaching on pavements were established.

On Friday, the traders’ association conducted an awareness drive to implement these rules. Shopkeepers who had placed goods outside the designated areas were asked to move them inside their shops.

Members of the association stated that this awareness drive will continue regularly. Authorities also warned that if anyone fails to comply with the rules even after repeated caution, the police administration may take legal action.
