Toy Train services resume in Darjeeling after 4-month long pause

Siliguri, 17th November: Tourists are overjoyed as Toy Train services in Darjeeling resumed its operations after a four-month long break. The service had been temporarily suspended since July due to landslides and damage to the tracks caused by heavy monsoon rains in the hills.


Reportedly, on Sunday, the Toy Train began its journey towards Darjeeling with approximately 35 passengers aboard, including both domestic and international tourists. The train’s reopening marks a return to normalcy for the popular tourist attraction.

In this regard, Surendra Kumar, the DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) of Katihar Division, explained that the Toy Train service was temporarily halted due to the landslides and heavy monsoon. However, the services have resumed now.


Tourists, who had been eagerly waiting for the service to resume, expressed their excitement. Many mentioned that they were thrilled to experience the scenic beauty and greenery of the hills from the iconic Toy Train.
