Siliguri, 11th April: It was a moment of dismay for many tourists who had come to visit Darjeeling as the Toy Train which was scheduled for departure at 10 a.m. from NJP, got cancelled.
Railway officials announced that the toy train had been cancelled due to an engine malfunction an hour before the departure, which led to distress and outrage among the tourists.
Reportedly, many tourists reached NJP station on Tuesday from various places, including Telangana, Assam and Kolkata among which a few had pre-booked their tickets. Later, many tourists could be seen heading towards Darjeeling via road. It is to be noted that the Toy Train is one of the major attractions for tourists visiting Darjeeling.
