Rajganj, 04th April: Rajganj Police arrested two youths from Cooch Behar involved in a hit and run case. The accused have been identified as 25-year-old Prahlad Das and 21-year-old Majidul Sheikh. Both are residents of South Ghogarkuthi in Cooch Behar. The police also seized the four-wheeler.
It is to recall, on March 23, a four-wheeler from Jalpaiguri arrived at the Panikauri toll gate on Siliguri-Jalpaiguri national highway in Rajganj. As the driver did not have a fast tag, he drove into the VIP Road to evade paying the toll tax. When the toll gate employees intercepted, the two youths inside the vehicle started arguing back and attempted to flee away. While trying to stop them, one of the employees was dragged down to some distance by the duo’s car. As a result, the employee was seriously injured.
While the vehicle could not be stopped, the staffers lodged a written complaint with the Rajganj police station. Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and nabbed the accused. Rajganj police station IC Pankaj Sarkar said that the duo was arrested from Cooch Behar last night and was produced in Jalpaiguri district court today.
