TMCP protests against Siliguri College professor over harassment allegations

Siliguri, 30th November: A professor at Siliguri College has been accused of harassing a student, prompting a protest by the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) at the college. The protest took place on Saturday, and a memorandum was submitted to the college principal regarding the incident.


According to the complaint, the professor from the English department had been harassing the student for several days, including sending multiple WhatsApp messages. After the incident came to light, the student and her family reported the matter to the TMCP. In response, members of the TMCP staged a protest against the professor.

Om Chakraborty, President of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad Unit, stated that the student had approached them with her complaint. He added that a deputation was submitted to the college principal, Sujit Ghosh, demanding the immediate dismissal of the professor.


Siliguri College Principal Sujit Ghosh confirmed that a complaint had been submitted to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). He assured that the matter would be investigated and action would be taken based on the committee’s report.
