Siliguri, 03rd May: After Trinamool Congress did not achieve the expected result in Darjeeling district in 2021 Bengal assembly elections and TMC candidate Goutam Deb was defeated in the Dabgram-Fulbari assembly constituency, the party activists have been carrying out fights in different parts of the city.
Allegedly, several houses in Dasharathpalli of Ward 44 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation were attacked and the residence and car of BJP regional president Biswajit Poddar were vandalized. BJP worker Chinmay Sharma was also attacked. He is currently admitted to the hospital.
Pintu Das, a member of the local BJP Yuva Morcha, said that after the defeat, the TMC activists and supporters have become violent. The locals are terrified since the incident. He also alleged that vandalism took place in front of the police.
However, all the allegations have been denied by the Trinamool Congress. In this regard, Ranjan Sarkar said, it is not right to blame their party for every issue. The police administration is working responsibly. He claimed that there was no problem during the voting and no difficulty will occur later.
