Jalpaiguri, 19th January: Trinamool Congress leaders and workers staged a protest in Jalpaiguri on Monday, alleging that common people are being harassed in the name of SIR. The protest was organised to oppose what the party described as unjust and intimidating actions affecting the general public.
As part of the protest, TMC supporters took out a rally and later gathered at the premises of the Jalpaiguri Sadar BDO office. The demonstration was led by Jalpaiguri Sadar Panchayat Samiti president Binay Kumar Roy, along with other senior party leaders and workers.
Speaking on the occasion, Jalpaiguri Sadar Block-2 TMC president Arjun Das alleged that harassment in the name of SIR is taking place across West Bengal. He accused the BJP and the Election Commission of introducing new rules every day, causing fear and distress among people.
Arjun Das further claimed that many people are living under severe mental stress due to this alleged harassment, and demanded that such actions be stopped immediately. The protest concluded with TMC leaders submitting their demands and urging authorities to address the concerns of the public.
