TMC Namasudra and Udbastu cell protests railway eviction notice in Siliguri, stages sit-in at NJP ADRM office

Siliguri, 24th November: The TMC Namasudra and Udbastu cell staged a protest at the NJP ADRM office on Monday against a railway eviction notice affecting the Ramnagar Mazdoor Colony area, stretching from Thakurnagar rail gate to Jabrabita Hanuman Temple near Siliguri.

The protest began with a march from Ramnagar Colony, culminating in a sit-in at the ADRM office. The demonstration was led by TMC Namasudra and Udbastu cell state president Ranjit Sarkar, Siliguri Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad member Monisha Roy, and Dabgram-Fhulbari Block president Dilip Roy.

After the march, the delegation submitted a memorandum to the railway authorities at the ADRM office.

Ranjit Sarkar stated that discussions with the railway officials took place, but full dialogue could not be conducted as senior officers were absent. He cautioned that no fresh eviction notices should be issued on poor local residents, adding that any further notices would trigger a larger movement in the future.
