Jalpaiguri, 23rd August: The son of Rajganj Block President of INTTUC Suleman Mohammad, identified as Rahul Ali, was arrested on charges of extortion at a toll plaza. The incident occurred late Thursday night at the toll plaza near Fatapukur on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway.
According to reports, Rahul Ali was apprehended after allegedly demanding money from the driver of a truck transporting livestock. The truck driver claimed that all his documents were in order and refused to pay any money. Following this, a complaint against Rahul Ali was filed at the Rajganj Police Station and the accused was arrested.
On Friday, Rahul Ali was presented in the Jalpaiguri District Court. However, TMC leader Suleman Mohammad has denied the allegations, asserting that his son is an employee at the toll plaza. According to Mohammad, the truck was stopped based on the instructions of the toll plaza management, and the police arrested him based on the complaint. He further asserted that his son was not involved in any extortion activities.
