Siliguri, 29th September: The leaders and workers of the Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress (TMC) left for Delhi to participate in a ‘dharna’, against the Center, to release the arrears of the 100 days work and Awas Yojana.
As per reports, the TMC workers will first go to Kolkata by the Haldibari Superfast Express train and subsequently depart for Delhi. Following this, they would participate in the protest against the Center in Delhi on October 2nd and 3rd. The dharna program will be led by TMC’s National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.
On Friday, Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress President Papiya Ghosh, INTTUC NJP Branch President Sujay Sarkar, Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress General Secretary Madan Bhattacharya, Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority member Kajal Ghosh and other leaders met the Delhi-bound workers and supporters at the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) station. During this, food and water were provided.
In this regard, Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress President Papiya Ghosh stated that several times applications have been sent to release the 100 days of arrears, however, no solutions were provided. She added that the party has decided to initiate a ‘dharna’ at Delhi for the same, for which, about 500 TMC leaders and supporters from 22 Gram Panchayats of the region are going to Delhi.
