TMC leader Papiya Ghosh goes door to door in Bagdogra to identify ‘ghost voters’

Bagdogra, 03rd March: Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress (TMC) President Papiya Ghosh conducted a door-to-door campaign in search of ‘ghost voters’ using the voter list.

On Monday, she visited homes in the Shantinagar area of Bagdogra, accompanied by district secretary Anand Ghosh, local Upa Pradhan, and party workers. She urged residents to verify their names, identities, and EPIC numbers.

Papiya Ghosh stated that the Delhi elections had been an eye-opener. Following party instructions, efforts have begun to identify ‘ghost voters,’ as some individuals from other states are allegedly registering with the same EPIC number. She admitted that such instances went unnoticed in the 2024 election, calling it a failure.

She further added that the party is now raising awareness among voters through this initiative and will organize a camp next Saturday. While no ‘ghost voters’ have been found yet, some names are under scrutiny. She also took a jibe at the BJP, alleging that such practices could be their way of staying in power.
