Siliguri, 22nd July: Sensation prevailed in the Bhaktinagar area of Ward No. 34 under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), when Trinamool Congress (TMC) President of the ward, Arup Chakraborty, was allegedly attacked by a group of people.
According to reports, on Friday night, there was a rent-related issue in the location as mentioned earlier when TMC leader Arup Chakraborty was returning home from that area. Consequently, he went forward to resolve the issue following which several people attacked him with sharp weapons. As a result, the TMC leader sustained facial injuries.
Subsequently, he sought treatment at the Siliguri District Hospital. Following the incident, a formal complaint was filed in the names of numerous individuals concerning the incident at the NJP Police Station. Further, Arup Chakraborty demanded the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident.
