Phansidewa, 10th September: On Sunday, a six-kilometer marathon was organized under the initiative of the Jalas-Nijamtara Anchal Trinamool Congress (TMC) in collaboration with Phansidewa Anchal Trinamool Congress of Phansidewa Block.
According to reports, the marathon was officially launched by Papiya Ghosh, President of Darjeeling District TMC. The event witnessed the presence of Alok Chakraborty, TMC Chairman of Darjeeling District, Kajal Ghosh, Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) board member, Kumudini Ghosh Baraik, Ainul Haque, Karmadhyakshas of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, Rina Ekka, President of the Phansidewa Panchayat Samiti, Akhtar Ali and Chandan Kumar Roy and other TMC supporters.
The marathon commenced at Phansidewa High School ground and ended at the Mohammad Baksh Prathimik Vidyalaya. After the event, cash rewards of Rs 7,000 for the first place, Rs 5,000 for the second place, and Rs 3,000 for the third place, along with trophies, were allotted in both male and female categories. In addition to the marathon, a cultural program was also organized.
