Siliguri, 15th August: On the occasion of Independence Day, the spirit of patriotism is being earnestly observed and celebrated throughout the nation. In alignment with this sentiment, Trinamool Congress (TMC) of Darjeeling district marked this day with great significance in Siliguri, where the national flag was proudly hoisted precisely at midnight.
According to reports, the midnight ceremony was inaugurated with captivating cultural performances held at the Kanchenjunga Stadium ground on the evening of Monday. Notable among the performers were local artists, joined by a distinguished army band that rendered special musical presentations.
Subsequently, as the night advanced, the day’s festivities culminated in the grandeur of fireworks, serving as a symbol of the celebratory spirit. Goutam Deb, the Mayor of Siliguri, raised the national flag during this commemorative event.
