TMC candidate Sankar Malakar campaigns at Naxalbari Tea Garden

Naxalbari, 13th April: Sankar Malakar, the Trinamool Congress candidate from the Matigara-Naxalbari Assembly constituency, intensified his election campaign at Naxalbari Tea Garden on Monday morning, with only a few days left before the Assembly polls.

He was accompanied by INTTUC District President Nirjal Dey, ST Block President Ajay Oraon, Mohammed Shamser, and other party leaders and supporters. During the campaign, Malakar highlighted the developmental initiatives of the Trinamool Congress government while appealing to voters for their support. He also alleged that central deprivation had hindered welfare measures in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Malakar expressed confidence in the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, stating that tea garden workers would stand firmly with the Trinamool Congress. He claimed that the party would secure overwhelming support in the constituency.

He further criticised the Prime Minister, asserting that people have seen through what he described as “empty promises” and that increased campaigning by the BJP would only strengthen the TMC’s vote share. Malakar also alleged that the sitting BJP MLA had failed to stand by the people and accused the Centre of depriving tea garden workers of benefits under the state government’s Cha Sundari scheme.
