Bagdogra, 03rd January: The workers of Tirhana Tea Estate, supported by the INTTUC, staged a road blockade demanding the reopening of the tea garden in Bagdogra. Notably, the tea garden was earlier closed over puja bonus issues.
As per reports, on Wednesday, the plantation workers protested by blocking the Bagdogra-Panighata State Highway. During this, the protestors demanded the reopening of the tea garden. They further highlighted their interest in entering into an agreement with the plantation management and resuming work.
Meanwhile, traffic congestion prevailed on the Bagdogra-Panighata state highway due to roadblocks. Later, the cops of Bagdogra police station arrived at the spot and eased the jam after assuring the protesters.
