Three tea workers injured by lightning strike in Bagdogra

Bagdogra, 12th July: In a tragic incident, lightning struck the Dangi section of Muni Tea Garden, leaving three tea workers injured on Wednesday. The unfortunate event occurred while the workers were engaged in plucking tea leaves. The injured individuals have been identified as Shashikala Toppo (15), Manjita Haluman (17), and Ashrita Kerketa (26).


According to reports, all three injured individuals, including two minors, were promptly rescued and admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). Upon receiving the news, the management of the tea plantation swiftly arrived at the scene. Additionally, Roma Reshmi Ekka, the Sahakari Sabhadhipati of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, also reached the location and had a conversation with the Superintendent of the Medical College. She assured full cooperation for the proper treatment of the injured individuals. As a result of the incident, the process of plucking tea leaves was temporarily halted.
