Three killed, including two college students, in tragic road accident in Rajganj; MLA meets bereaved families

Rajganj, 08th February: Three youths, including two college students, were killed in a tragic road accident in the Rajganj area of Jalpaiguri district. Following the incident, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy met the grieving families and expressed his condolences.


The fatal accident occurred on Saturday morning on the Ambari-Hathi More state road at Manuagonj under Rajganj police station limits. Two youths, identified as Karnadeb Mandal and Shubhashish Oraon, died on the spot. Another youth, Dipankar Majumdar, who was critically injured in the accident, was admitted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where he later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

According to sources, Karnadeb Mandal was employed at a factory and is survived by his parents, wife, and a two-year-old child. Shubhashish Oraon and Dipankar Majumdar are survived by their parents and siblings.


On Sunday morning, MLA Khageswar Roy visited the homes of the three deceased youths. He was accompanied by Rajganj Block Mahila Trinamool Congress president Sarbani Dhara, Panikauri Gram Panchayat pradhan Papiya Sarkar, and other party workers. The MLA interacted with the family members, conveyed deep condolences, and assured them of all possible assistance during this difficult time.

Later in the day, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti leader of opposition and BJP leader Nitai Mandal also visited the bereaved families. He extended his sympathies and assured them of full support.
