Three injured in attack by uncle-nephew duo in Siliguri, both accused arrested

Siliguri, 13th January: A sensational attack in Anil Nagar under Matigara police station left three youths seriously injured late on Monday night. The incident occurred when an uncle-nephew duo allegedly attacked the three individuals with sharp weapons after being confronted for using abusive language while intoxicated.


Police promptly arrested the accused, identified as uncle Dheeraj Chaudhary (35) and nephew Ashish Thakur (19). The seriously injured Aditya Roy (22) has been admitted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where his condition remains critical, while Shubajit Singh (22) and Chayan Das (21) are receiving treatment at a private hospital. All three youths are residents of Patiram Jote.

According to the victims’ families, one of the youths was verbally abused by the intoxicated accused, which led to the sudden and violent attack. Locals rushed the victims to the hospital immediately.


On receiving information, Matigara police acted swiftly to apprehend both accused, who were produced in Siliguri court on Tuesday. Families of the victims stated that the attackers had a history of disputes with neighbours and demanded the strictest possible punishment.
