Mirik, 12th March: A three-day flower exhibition organized by the Sungabha Floriculture Society was inaugurated by Mirik Municipality Chairman and Hill Trinamool leader LB Rai, on Friday. The flower show features a variety of seasonal flowers, including the Cymbidium orchid that blooms in Mirik.
Considering its geographical location, Mirik is considered favourable for floriculture. Bhim Kumar Rai, secretary of the organizing committee, said that the main purpose of organizing the exhibition is to encourage the younger generation into gardening and help them become self-reliant. Rai believes, if supported by the concerned department and the administration the floriculture in Mirik will bloom.
Mirik Municipality Chairman LB Rai assured of writing to the State government and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) in this regard. And also providing all assistance from his end.
