Rajganj, 11th January: The forest officials of the Ambari range seized two barking deer antlers with skulls and arrested three individuals in the incident. However, the identity of the arrested criminals has not been disclosed due to investigation purposes.
According to reports, on Wednesday evening, Ranger Alamgir Haque along with other forest personnel raided the Fatapukur area of Rajganj and apprehended the accused criminals with the animal parts. Additionally, the scooty used for the illegal activity has also been confiscated.
It is to be noted that the forest officials of the Ambari range had previously apprehended all three accused a month ago with six deer horns. Upon further interrogation, the forest department gained adequate information about the gang that dealt in the smuggling of animal parts. Following this, the officials were closely monitoring the group, and subsequently on Wednesday the officials conducted the raid.
According to the forest department, the deer antlers attached to the skulls were being smuggled to Nepal from Alipurduar via Siliguri. On Thursday, the accused criminals were presented to the Jalpaiguri District Court.
