Siliguri, 22nd February: In a significant breakthrough, the cops of Pradhan Nagar police station have arrested three youths on charges of mobile phone snatching. The arrested accused have been identified as Vikas Mahato (21), Roshan Lama (20), and Sushant Rana (21), all residents of the Gurung Basti area of Ward No. 03 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
Sources revealed that on February 19, a young woman, a resident of the Matigara Khaprail More area, was returning home when three youths riding a motorbike allegedly snatched the mobile phone in an area adjacent to Mallaguri. After the incident, the woman lodged a formal complaint at the police station on Wednesday. Based on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation into the case.
Subsequently, with the assistance of the CCTV footage installed in the said area, the police identified the motorbike utilized in the act and arrested the three accused from the Gurung Basti area late Wednesday night. On Thursday, the accused were presented before the Siliguri court, while further investigation is underway.
