Rajganj, 13th June: In a foiled attempt of animal trafficking, the Ambari Range forest officials rescued two geckos from the clutches of traffickers. The incident led to the arrest of three accused individuals hailing from Alipurduar. However, the identities of the arrested accused have not been disclosed for investigation purposes.
Acting on a tip-off, the forest officials, led by Ambari Ranger Alamgir Haque, arrested the accused trio from the Fatapukur More. Subsequently, the officials rescued the geckos and seized a four-wheeler involved in the incident. Reportedly, the animals were to be trafficked abroad.
In this regard, Ambari Ranger Alamgir Haque stated that the geckos were being illegally transported from Alipurduar to Nepal via Siliguri. On Thursday, the accused trio will be produced before the Jalpaiguri Court for further legal proceedings.
