Three arrested in Siliguri for stealing newly arrived garments

Siliguri, 03rd August: The Siliguri police station’s undercover officers have arrested three individuals, identified as Jayanta Roy, Mohammad Javed, and Bappa Manna, for stealing clothes. The suspects, residents of the Fuleswari and Koiladepo areas, were apprehended under the charge of garment theft.


Reportedly, on Friday, the three youths stole a bag of clothes from a shop at Hawkers Corner market. Following the theft, a written complaint was filed at Siliguri police station. Acting on this complaint, police arrested the trio from beneath the flyover on Burdwan Road later at night. A bag containing the stolen items, including 30 jackets and 6 shirts, was recovered from them.

Police sources revealed that the suspects are known criminals. They seized the opportunity to steal the newly arrived clothes, which were intended for the upcoming Durga Puja festival. The stolen garments were meant for resale.


The arrested individuals were presented in Siliguri court on Saturday. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
