Siliguri, 09th August: In a recent development, the police from New Jalpaiguri police station arrested three individuals on Thursday night for attempting to traffic cattle from Bihar to Assam. The suspects, identified as Muktar Ali, Rizwan Karim, and MD Samar, were apprehended in the Amaidighi area while transporting five cows in a four-wheeler.
The vehicle used in the smuggling operation was seized by the police. According to police sources, the cattle were being illegally transported across states.
The three arrested individuals were presented in Jalpaiguri court on Friday. The police plan to seek a five-day remand to further investigate the case.
