Siliguri, 10th September: The NJP police have arrested three individuals in connection with thefts of cycles and an e-rickshaw. The accused Bivas Dutta was arrested for the theft of 10 bicycles while Saurabh Dey and Sukumar Das were arrested for the theft of an e-rickshaw.
On Monday, a bicycle was reported stolen from Ambikanagar within the NJP Police Station jurisdiction. Following a written complaint, the police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested the accused Bivas Dutta from the NJP Railway Hospital More area. After interrogating the accused, the police recovered ten stolen bicycles from Tikiapara.
Meanwhile, on September 8, an e-rickshaw was stolen from the Gatebazaar area in Ward No. 33 of Siliguri. Subsequently, an investigation was conducted leading to the arrest of Saurabh Dey and Sukumar Das on Monday. The stolen e-rickshaw was recovered from their possession.
Police sources revealed that the e-rickshaw was hidden in the Kashmir Colony of NJP with the intent to sell it. The arrested individuals have been presented to the Jalpaiguri District Court on Tuesday while the police continue to investigate the cases.
