Siliguri, 16th January: In a significant breakthrough, the Matigara police successfully apprehended three individuals, recovered several stolen items, and returned them to its rightful owner after proper verification. The arrested accused have been identified as Chhotu Barman, Aparthik Roy, and Hitesh Singh.
According to reports, the thieves allegedly struck the house of a resident Raghunath Dutta, on the night of December 24. Subsequently, he filed a written complaint at the Matigara police station on the 25th. Subsequently, the police initiated an investigation based on the complaint and arrested a person identified as Chhotu Barman in connection to the case.
Following an interrogation, the officials came across several other suspects and arrested Aparthik Roy and Hitesh Singh, both residents of Matigara. On the night of January 15, the police raided the house of the accused and recovered the stolen items, including a refrigerator, a gas cylinder, and cooking utensils, and returned them to the owner on Tuesday.
In this regard, Raghunath Dutta expressed his gratification to the Matigara police and was hence elated to recover his stolen items.
