Three absconding accused in Siliguri’s Rita Saha Murder Case arrested from Patna

Siliguri, 29th March: Matigara police have arrested three absconding accused in the Rita Saha Murder Case. The trio, identified as Rekha Gupta and her two sons, Rahul Gupta and Rittik Gupta, were apprehended in Patna and brought to Siliguri.

According to reports, Rajesh Kumar Gupta Soni, along with his first wife Rekha Gupta and their two sons, allegedly murdered his second wife, Rita Saha. Rajesh had married Rekha Gupta first, and they had two children. However, 12 years ago, he married Rita Saha, which led to ongoing family disputes. Rekha Gupta resided in Tumba Jote, while Rita Saha lived in Rana Nagar. Every night, Rajesh used to visit his second wife, but on March 17, when he did not return home, Rita Saha, suspecting something amiss, went to Rekha Gupta’s house to look for him, leading to a confrontation.

During the dispute, Rajesh, Rekha, and their two sons allegedly attacked Rita Saha with sharp weapons. She was rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where doctors declared her dead. Following this, Rajesh informed Rita Saha’s parents about her death, prompting them to file a complaint against him, Rekha, and their sons at Matigara police station.

Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested Rajesh Kumar Gupta Soni. Sources revealed that Rajesh is a local Trinamool Congress leader. However, Rekha Gupta and her two sons absconded after the incident. By tracking their mobile tower locations, the police arrested them in Patna on Friday and brought them back to Siliguri.

On Saturday, all the accused were presented before the Siliguri court. According to sources, Rittik, the younger son of Rajesh and Rekha, is a minor, and the police are verifying his age. Investigators have also obtained CCTV footage from the night of the incident and are continuing their probe into the case.
