Siliguri, 15th August: In a daring daylight theft, miscreants targeted an empty house in the Utpal Nagar area under Pradhan Nagar police station in Siliguri. The incident occurred on Wednesday when the house was left unattended by its residents, providing an opportunity for the thieves to strike.
The culprits reportedly broke the locks of three cupboards and made off with gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 2 lakh. The residents discovered the theft upon their return and immediately informed the Pradhan Nagar police station.
Upon receiving the news, police arrived at the scene promptly and have launched an investigation into the incident.
