Thieves steal over ₹1 lakh from grocery store in Siliguri, raises concerns over police vigilance

Siliguri, 11th November: A brazen theft at a grocery store in the Baneshwar More area, near the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri, has caused a stir in the locality. On Sunday, thieves cut through the roof of the store, broke the ceiling, and made off with nearly ₹1.25 lakh in cash.

Reportedly, the shop owner, Bishwajit Roy, discovered the theft when he opened his shop on Monday morning and immediately alerted the authorities. According to Roy, this was not the first incident of theft at his shop, revealing that his store had been targeted three times before. Despite filing complaints with the police, Roy expressed frustration over the lack of resolution.

He further expressed his concerns and added that a police vehicle is stationed near Baneshwar More, and regular patrolling is carried out. Despite this, the thieves managed to evade the police presence in the area.
