Thieves eat and loot from roadside eatery in Fulbari, flee after break-in

Fulbari, 26th July: A bizarre theft incident sparked sensation in Fulbari after a group of thieves broke into a small roadside eatery near Fulbari Bypass, ate food stored inside, and then fled with shop items.

According to sources, the shop is run by Latifa Khatun, a resident of Purba Dhanatala, Fulbari. She has been running the eatery for several years and had recently taken a loan of ₹2 lakh to restock the shop with essentials. Her family survives on the earnings from this small business.

On Friday night, Latifa closed her shop as usual and returned home. However, on Saturday morning, she discovered the lock broken and the shop ransacked. Items were stolen, and what shocked her more was that the thieves had also consumed food like curd, flattened rice, and bananas kept inside the shop.

Latifa Khatun said she had taken the loan from a private agency just last week to clear debts and refill the shop. She had planned to repay the loan from her sales. She stated that the matter will be reported to the New Jalpaiguri police station.
