Siliguri, 22nd January: In a surprising incident, a thief targeted the police quarters behind the Siliguri Women Police Station, stealing two batteries and fleeing the scene. However, the Siliguri Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused, identified as Raja Das (22), within 24 hours. Das is a resident of the Deshbandhu Para area.
According to police sources, the theft occurred on Monday when two batteries were stolen from the police quarters. A complaint was lodged at Siliguri Police Station, raising questions about the security system in the police campus itself.
Acting on a tip-off, the police discovered that the accused was attempting to sell the stolen batteries in Tikia Para on Tuesday evening. A raid was conducted, leading to Raja Das’s arrest, and both stolen batteries were recovered.
On Wednesday, the accused was produced in Siliguri court. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
