Siliguri, 15th December: Police in Siliguri arrested a suspect within 24 hours in connection with a burglary at a local temple and recovered all stolen items. The accused has been identified as Ranjan Das, also known as Bulan, a resident of Purba Chayan Para.
According to police sources, the incident occurred late on 13th December at a Shiva temple in Purbo Chayan Para. The suspect stole several items, including the temple’s pinnacle, and hid them at his home.
The temple authorities filed a written complaint at Ashighar Outpost on 14th December. Acting on the complaint, police conducted an investigation and arrested Ranjan Das during a raid. All stolen items were recovered from his residence following questioning.
The accused was produced in Jalpaiguri court on Monday. The police continue to investigate the case.
