Siliguri, 20th August: A shocking theft occurred early Wednesday at a residence in Gate Bazar, Ward No. 33, Siliguri, where family members were asleep. Suspects allegedly used a spray to carry out the burglary.
Reportedly, the incident took place at the home of Jiten Mandal. Upon hearing the noise, his wife raised an alarm, prompting the thieves to flee. Around ₹12,000 was reportedly stolen from a grocery shop located in front of their house. Two children were among the family members who were later taken to Siliguri District Hospital for treatment.
Residents alleged that although they reported the incident to NJP police station in the morning, authorities arrived only after several hours. Recently, a similar theft was reported at a railway quarter in Central Colony.
