Siliguri, 12th April: Theft in a liquor store located in Sevoke Road has left the policemen baffled in Siliguri. Liquor worth lakhs have been stolen in the incident.
Since all liquor shops and bars have been shut after the government ordered the lockdown, black marketing of liquor is on the rise.
According to sources, the thieves broke in from behind the shop and fled away with a large quantity of alcohol. The CCTV cameras including the hard disks of the shop were allegedly meddled with.
Shop owner Trideep Roy stated that the shop has been closed due to the lockdown, but the entire shop was being monitored with the help of CCTV cameras. The cameras apparently stopped running two days after a storm and rain hit the city. Roy reached the shop to examine the security system and saw that the wire of the CCTV camera was disconnected and the back door of the shop was also broken.
Later the information on the incident was given to the Bhaktinagar police. As soon as the news was received, the police arrived at the scene and are investigating the entire incident.
