Theft during Chhath Puja in Kharibari, valuables worth lakhs stolen

Kharibari, 08th November: A theft occurred in Kharibari’s Demravita area while the family members were away for Chhath Puja celebrations at the ghats. The incident took place on Friday morning, when the family had locked their home before heading out to perform the puja.


The thieves had broken open the lock of the house and ransacked the rooms, making away with gold and silver jewelry, including a gold necklace, earrings, a locket, a mangalsutra (sacred neckwear), and other silver ornaments, along with cash worth ₹70,000 and cellphones.

Family members reported that the burglars searched the entire house and fled with valuable items. They suspect that the thieves could be individuals under the influence of drugs. At present, the police have launched an investigation into the theft.
