Theft at a doctor’s residence in broad daylight in Siliguri, cash and jewellery looted

Siliguri, 08th May: In a broad daylight theft, a doctor’s residence in Siliguri fell victim to robbers, causing a stir in the locality. The incident occurred in the Gurung Basti area of Ward No. 03 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).

As per reports, Dr. Rajen Pradhan, an eye specialist, and his wife had left their home around 10 a.m. on Tuesday for some work, leaving the house unattended. Seizing the opportunity, a group of culprits forcibly entered Dr. Pradhan’s house by breaking the main door. Once inside, they proceeded to break open a locker, making off with approximately Rs 2 lakh in cash and gold jewellery valued at around Rs 5 lakh.

Later, the theft came to light when Dr. Pradhan’s wife returned home around 2 p.m. to find the door open and the locker tampered. Promptly, a complaint was filed at the Pradhan Nagar police station. Upon receiving the news, the police arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation into the unsettling incident.
