Siliguri, 14th February: Thakur Panchanan Barma’s statue was unveiled at North Bengal University on his 157th birth anniversary. The project was an initiative of Panchanan Anuragi Manch and with financial support from the university itself.
A grand procession is taken out on this day and programs were also organized. Padma Shri recipient Mangala Kanti Roy as Chief Guest on the occasion, along with Panchanan Anuragi Manch President Nikhilesh Roy, former Vice Chancellor of Raiganj University Professor Anil Bhuimali, former Vice Chancellor of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University Professor Indrajit Roy, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandmay Barman and others were present.
